I drink a clean green smoothie almost every single morning. It’s quick and easy to make, regulates my blood sugar level, and makes me feel very healthy indeed when I realize that I’ve ingested a serving of vegetables before 6:30am…or whatever insane hour of the morning my kid decides to wake up.
If you’re looking to give your morning routine a jolt without the caffeine (FYI, I drink a giant cup of coffee as well), I highly suggest making this smoothie! The recipe is not my own, nor is it associated with any kind of diet (Wahl’s, Keto, Paleo etc..), but it is a creation by wellness chef Candice Kumai. I really like all of her smoothie recipes, but this is the one that I come back to again and again. I’ve made a couple of tweaks to her recipe below.
All you’ll need is:
- 1.5 cups of almond milk or coconut milk drink (preferably unsweetened with no added sugar)
- 2 cups of greens (she suggests kale; I use spinach)
- 1 frozen banana (in my opinion, this smoothie tastes just as good with an unfrozen banana)
- 2 tablespoons of almond butter
- 1 cup of ice
Directions: SUPER EASY–combine all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Voila!
In health,
Danielle
